The sun holiday market from Shannon Airport has received a welcome boost this week with the announcement that WingsAbroad, the Turkish holiday specialists, will double the number of flights to Bodrum from Shannon next summer with the first flight commencing on Sunday 26th May.
The charter flights to Turkey will now operate for the full summer season with the last flight operating on 22nd September next year.
Commenting on the announcement Tayfun Gokpinar, Managing Director of WingsAbroad stated “I am delighted with the success of our Shannon service to Bodrum this summer and due to the large support we received from the travel trade and our customers in the region we have decided to extend our programme next summer which will effectively double the number of flights and passengers that we operate at Shannon Airport. We introduced the route this year and thanks to all the support received from our customers and Shannon Airport we are now able to invest further in the Shannon market”.

In 2011 WingsAbroad’s total capacity for the Summer season was 10,000 which expanded to 12,500 in Summer 2012. They plan to continue this expansion with a target of 16,000 for Summer 2013.
This weekly charter programme will offer holiday packages as well as a seat only option for those customers wishing to visit their own holiday properties in this region of Turkey. With the Shannon flight, holidaymakers will be able to explore Bodrum itself as well as Gumbet, Bitez, Altinkum, Marmaris and Kusadasi.
