Meet the Media is a one-day networking event for domestic and international travel trade and travel media. Meet the Media 2026 will be held on Monday, February 9th 2026 and will use the same online appointment system as previous years. This unique event will connect media from all over Ireland and the UK (print, broadcast, online, digital, bloggers, influencers) with worldwide travel suppliers including airlines, hoteliers, tourist boards and tour operators. The 2025 event saw almost 50 international suppliers attend and almost 1000 appointments made across the day.

Orla Twomey: Guidance on Influencer Advertising and Marketing

Orla Twomey detailed the critical importance of transparency in influencer marketing, highlighting that consumers should not have to question whether content is advertising. She discussed the joint guidance issued by the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which mandates that influencers clearly label all commercial content with identifiers. The guidance addresses various forms of influencer content, including paid promotions, gifted items, and the advertising of own-brand products and services.

 

Christopher Mitchell – Finding Your Niche

Drawing from over a decade of experience in travel blogging and content creation, Christopher Mitchell emphasized the significance of specialization in building a sustainable and authentic brand. He shared his personal journey, highlighting how focusing on specific interests and expertise areas allowed him to stand out in a crowded market and connect more deeply with his audience. Mitchell also discussed the evolution of his career, including co-founding the Toronto Bloggers Collective and launching niche platforms like Ultimate Ontario and the newsletter This Week in Blogging.

 

Paul Hackett (ITAA): Travel Regulations & Responsibilities of Content Creators in the Travel Industry

Paul Hackett highlighted the importance of working with licensed travel operators, highlighting that such partnerships ensure consumer protection and compliance with legal standards. He discussed the risks and responsibilities associated with organizing or promoting trips, noting that content creators who sell or promote travel experiences must adhere to regulations set by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland.
