Try a family holiday with a twist this Winter! Crystal Ski have selected some super destinations and hotels that cater to families, offering a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Get ready to hit the slopes and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.
Best for value – Borovets, Bulgaria
Borovets is a great place to get started on skis with easy-to-reach nursery slopes, tree-lined green runs and beautiful views all round. There are red slopes that are higher up the mountain too, for when you’re ready for more. Whatever your level, you’ll be able to hit the piste without straining your bank balance thanks to ski lessons and lift passes that cost less than elsewhere in Europe. Outside of the slopes, there’s plenty on offer. From torchlit walks through the pine forest, evening ski shows, kids’ workshops and pub crawls, there’s always plenty going on for all ages off the slopes.
2nd January 2027 – Dublin toBulgaria, Iglika Borovets Hotel and Villas, 4*, Borovets, Half-Board, 7 nights from €2,629 (2 adults + 1 child), €3,449 (2adults + 2 children)
Best for mixed abilities – Flaine, France
Flaine is home to top-notch terrain for first timers and intermediates. Beginners can start in the nursery zone right next to the town, then move on to the long greens and blues. There’s loads of varied pistes, from wide reds in the Flaine bowl to narrow, tree-lined trails. Different colours of run all lead back to the same hubs, so it’s easy to meet up for lunch or après on the mountain. Flaine is a top pick for families, with Crystal Childcare based in resort here too for children aged between 6 months to 8 years. Away from the slopes, families can race each other around the ice karting track or hit the bowling alley.
6th February 2027 – Dublin to France, Les Terrasses De Veret Residences, 2*+, Flaine, Self-Catering, 7 nights from €2,769 (2 adults + 1 child), €3,359 (2 adults + 2 children)
Best for teens – Obergurgl, Austria
Located at 1,930m, Obergurgl’s one of the highest villages in the Alps, meaning it’s hard to beat for reliable snow. The ski area packs in plenty of variety, from gentle nursery slopes, tree-lined trails and wide-open pistes. With nearly half of the slopes being blue, it’s ideal for teens looking to build confidence. Learners can polish their skills at the local ski school, and teens can have fun whizzing down the fun slopes and hitting mini jumps in the snow park. Teens in Obergurgl also have a variety of activities off the slopes; from ice skating, curling and tobogganing to winter trains and spa experiences.
12th December 2026, Dublin to Austria, Hotel Lohmann, 4*, Obergurgl, Half-Board, 7 nights from €4,149 (2 adults + 1 child), €5,199 (2 adults + 2 children)
Best for young families – La Thuile, Italy
La Thuile is a top pick for those fairly new to the mountain. You can ski at your own pace on 152km of wide, empty slopes, where the excellent snow conditions have earned this area the nickname ‘Little Siberia’. The former mining village is a quiet place, with a smattering of bars where you can get a feel for Italian après culture, and is surrounded by some pretty impressive scenery too, so see if you can point out the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc peaks while you’re wandering around. For young families, Crystal Childcare clubs are perfect for a hassle-free trip. Kids can get stuck into games and activities while parents enjoy some time on the slopes or a spell in the spa.
14th March 2027 – Dublin to Italy, Residence Planibel, 3*, La Thuile, Self-Catering, 7 nights from €1,799 (2 adults + 1 child), €2,299 (2 adults + 2 children)
