It’s a new year but 2023 has started just how 2022 ended for the TravelMedia.ie team, busy. New arrivals, new clients and plenty of events, shows, and conferences. January had it all. Let’s take a look at what the team got up to.
Jenn joins
January saw a new arrival to the TravelMedia.ie team. Jenn O’Neill joined us halfway through the month, coming on board as Senior Account Manager.
Jenn is an established public relations specialist with experience in fast-moving consumer products and lifestyle. Jenn worked as a client manager at a major communications firm after earning her postgraduate diploma in public relations and event management from The Fitzwilliam Institute.
Jenn has in-depth knowledge of consumer trends and a wealth of expertise in creating and managing effective PR campaigns. Jenn loves to travel and is very interested in social media and influencer marketing.

Annette attends ITAA Awards
On Thursday 26th, Annette was in attendance for the Irish Travel Agents Association’s annual awards show in the Mansion House in Dublin. It was a great night with lots of deserving winners, including TravelMedia.ie client Crystal Ski, who took home the award for Ski Operator of the Year. Congratulations to Crystal Ski and all the award winners!
Holiday World Show in the RDS
One of the first big outings for the TravelMedia.ie team in 2023 was the arrival of Holiday World Show to the RDS in Dublin, which took place from the 27th to the 29th of January. It was a busy but enjoyable weekend for the whole team as we got to network and chat with fellow trade professionals on Friday morning, before welcoming the public across the rest of the weekend.
TravelMedia.ie were there on behalf Bradley International Airport and Barbados Tourism & Marketing, but we were also able to catch up with many others at the show, both clients and other friends within the travel industry.
Greece Dinner
After Holiday World Show Day 1 came to a close on Friday, the 27th, Michael took a group of associates, including some friends from the Greek Tourist Board to the nearby Bang Café on Baggot St. for a delicious meal and great chat and storytelling.
Michael, Paula, & Leslie go to Fitur 2023
The first month of the year also saw Michael, Paula and Leslie jet off for the Spanish capital of Madrid for Fitur 2023. Fitur is the global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound markets in Latin America.
Over the course of three days, the guys got to meet with many of our friends in the Spanish markets, improving relations, and, as always meeting new people and creating fresh opportunities.
And of course, there was time made to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and culture that Madrid has to offer!
TravelMedia.ie and Solar Alvura
In January, we were delighted to begin our work with Solar Alvura Health Hotel, founded Dr Eva Orsmond. The Finnish physician set up the Solar Alvura Health Hotel in the Algarve, Portugal, last year. The hotel is aimed at those seeking to create a healthier lifestyle for themselves through improved nutrition exercise, and all-round better habits. We are really looking forward to working with the hotel and Dr Orsmond going forward.
BTMI Hotel Reps Meeting
Michael and Raluca took a trip across the Irish Sea to London to be present at BTMI’s hotel reps meeting. The guys were able to share all the fantastic work both companies have been doing in the name of public relations and social media, highlighting some of the key activations that took place in 2022.
After the meeting, BTMI hosted a fantastic New Year’s party for everyone fit with music, dancing, delicious food, and maybe a glass or two of Bajan rum.
There was no rest for the wicked however as Raluca hopped on a train to Manchester to join BTMI’s Cedric Lynch at the Destinations show in the northwest of England. Below you can see the pair enjoying the event as Raluca tried to teach Cedric all there is to know about social media.
Visit USA UK Meet the Media 2023
Michael flew to London to attend the Visit USA Committee UK Meet The Media event at the London venue of the American-owned Smith & Wollensky restaurant chain. A night of great dining and networking was had by all.
DUB+ Event in Dublin Airport
Michael also attended the DUB+ Partner Marketing Exchange in Dublin Airport on the morning of January 26th. There was a whole host of fantastic speakers sharing their experiences and the developments within the travel industry over the last 12 months. Michael and Leslie attend marketing launch of Tourism Ireland 2023
And finally, Michael and Leslie went along to the marketing launch for Tourism Ireland 2023 on the 16th. Actress Sharon Horgan is acting as the front for Tourism Ireland’s 2023 campaign. A full strategic breakdown was offered up to attendees as Tourism Ireland looks to continue the rebuild of the tourism industry that’s not quite yet at pre-pandemic levels.
