Barbados Launches ‘Barbados Remembers Your Name’ Global Campaign

Bridgetown, Barbados, September 2, 2026– Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has launched Barbados Remembers Your Name, a new global destination campaign that highlights what makes the island memorable, the personal connections and warm welcomes that keep visitors coming back.

For repeat visitors especially, Barbados can become a home away from home, and the Caribbean island boasts a long history of welcoming visitors back. BTMI’s Loyal Visitors Club, which recognises travellers once they have visited the island 25 times, has more than 500 registered members, with some visitors recording more than 100 trips to Barbados. When asked what keeps them returning, one answer comes up consistently, the people.

“We hear from repeat visitors all the time that the people are a big part of why they come back to Barbados,” said Chief Executive Officer, BTMI, Andrea Franklin. She added: “Over time, they build relationships here. They have people who remember them and places they always return to, and those connections become part of their Barbados experience.”

Those relationships will be an important part of how the new campaign comes to life, with BTMI sharing the stories of visitors and the Barbadians they have come to know over years of travelling to the island.

Among the many stories that make Barbados memorable for visitors, Ed and Pat Traver’s stands out as a testament to the island’s unique charm. The couple has been married for 37 years and have made Barbados their home away from home for the past 33 years. As proud members of the Loyal Visitors Club, Ed and Pat personify the deep connections and lasting relationships that so many travellers form with the island and its people.

“When we first started coming, we were only visiting for one week at a time. We’d always talk to people and they would say they’d been coming for four or five weeks. We thought, ‘How could people do that?’ Now we’re the ones doing it,” Ed recalls with a smile.

Over the years, the Travers have found countless reasons to return. “We just love it. We love the people, we love the food, the weather, and we feel very safe here,” Ed adds.

For Pat, Barbados has become much more than just a winter escape. She has fallen in love with the island’s cuisine and culture, savouring local favourites like flying fish, enjoying a chilled glass of rum punch, and sailing along the picturesque coastline on a catamaran.

Their story is one of many across the island. From restaurant owners and vendors to taxi drivers, hotel employees, tour guides and small business owners, the people visitors meet often become part of the memories — and the traditions — they build around Barbados.

Director of Marketing at BTMI, Anderson King, said the campaign provides an opportunity to tell a part of the destination story that is not always captured through traditional tourism advertising.

“We wanted a campaign that could work globally while still feeling unmistakably Barbadian,” King said. “Barbados Remembers Your Name gives us a platform to tell many different stories about the destination, but with that same idea of familiarity and connection running through all of them.”

Barbados Remembers Your Name begins rolling out across the island’s key international markets from September 2026.

The campaign will be supported by ongoing stories featuring repeat visitors and the Barbadians they return to see, highlighting the personal connections that have become part of their Barbados experience.
