Upcoming Events for Sport and Cultural Enthusiasts in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are set to be the center of attention in the coming months as a number of exciting events in sports and culture are lined up to take place across the archipelago. From competitive sporting events to captivating cultural festivals, the Canary Islands have something to offer for everyone. With the region’s natural beauty and warm climate, visitors can expect to experience a unique blend of adventure, entertainment, and relaxation. The 31st edition of the Lanzarote Ironman will take place on May 20th, offering participants a challenging 3.8 kilometers swimming, 180.2 kilometers cycling and 42.2 kilometers running. The event will also offer slots for the 2023 IRONMAN World Championship.

The mountain race La Famara Total will be held in August, from the 24th to the 26th, and is one of the most important trail races in the Canary Islands. With different modalities to choose from, including the Vertical Famara Total, a race in which participants will have to climb the Risco de Famara, the event promises fun for the whole family.

The Isla de La Palma Swimming Crossing, a 17-kilometer race for professional open water swimmers, will take place on June 10th. This year, the 4-kilometer race will be part of the competitions of the Official Open Water Cups of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and the Canary Islands Swimming Federation.

Music lovers can look forward to the Cook Music Fest of Tenerife from July 14th to 22nd. This event mixes music with gastronomy and will feature performances by Prince Royal, Emilia, Ana Mena and Rubén Blades, among others.

The Liquid Sounds festival will take place on May 7th at the Grifo winery, offering visitors a unique music experience in a beautiful environment.

In the film industry, Disney will be filming the next installment of Star Wars in Fuerteventura, while the second season of The Rings of Power, based on Tolkien’s Middle Earth, will be filmed in Tenerife.

Sports enthusiasts can also take part in the Tenerife Bluetrail from June 8th to 10th, featuring 10 modalities, including a family race, one for children, and one specifically for young runners. The Gastrocanarias fair will also take place from May 23rd to 25th, showcasing the best of the gastronomy, hotel and catering sector.

Finally, the Fuerteventura en Música festival will be held from June 30th to July 1st, featuring local and foreign artists, with Bomba Estéreo as the headliner.

The Bestial Race Fuerteventura will take place on May 6th, offering participants a new route through desert mountains and beaches with new obstacles. With two different routes to choose from, the race promises fun and excitement for everyone.
