County Kildare is firmly in the global spotlight this summer, hosting two major international golf tournaments that are showcasing the very best of Irish sport, hospitality, and tourism.

Following the hugely successful KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Carton House, Fairmont, which welcomed over 38,000 visitors, the county is now playing host to the Amgen Irish Open at the prestigious K Club.

These two key events are positioning Kildare, and Ireland, as a premier destination for world-class golf and tourism experiences. With a global viewership reach of over 300 million, the Amgen Irish Open presents a thrilling opportunity to highlight Ireland as one of the world’s most distinguished golfing destinations.

The momentum is set to continue, with The K Club confirmed as the host venue for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open again in 2025.

At the heart of the Amgen Irish Open experience is The Kildare Lawn, a vibrant hospitality and tourism showcase bringing a festival atmosphere to the grounds of the K Club.

Into Kildare, the county’s tourism body, has a dedicated stand and presence at the event, highlighting the wealth of attractions, hotels, restaurants and experiences available across the county.

In collaboration with members of the Into Kildare tourism and hospitality network, the “Taste of Kildare” experience is being brought to life by the Hartes Group, which include The Dew Drop Inn, The Ballymore Inn, Firecastle, and also Donadea Wagu, offering visitors a sample of the county’s award-winning food scene.

Throughout the weekend, additional partners will also be present, with Saturday and Sunday seeing an expanded showcase of Kildare-based hotels and attractions, all located alongside the K Club Hotel.

Áine Mangan, CEO of Into Kildare, said:

“Golf tourism is such an important part of Ireland’s visitor economy, bringing in over 220,000 visitors each year and contributing around €300 million nationally. Here in Kildare, with The K Club and other outstanding courses, we see first-hand how golf shines a global spotlight on our county. What makes the Amgen Irish Open so special is that it allows us to share not only world-class golf, but also the warmth of our welcome, the richness of our food culture, and the family experiences that encourage people to return. It’s wonderful to see so many visitors enjoying everything that makes Kildare unique.”

With golf tourists spending up to three times more than the average visitor and often travelling with non-golfers eager to explore, the value of hosting such events in Kildare cannot be underestimated. The Amgen Irish Open provides a significant opportunity to Co. Kildare to a global audience.

As one of Ireland’s premier sporting and lifestyle destinations, Kildare’s mix of luxury accommodation, food, history, and outdoor activities offers something for everyone, on and off the fairways.
