Christmas Eve in Grenada. Christmas morning with nothing on the horizon but Caribbean blue. This route stands out for the smaller islands — Bequia’s quiet Grenadine shores, the Pitons rising above Soufrière and Grenada’s spice estates and rainforest.

Beginning in Barbados, Silver Nova sails north through seven Caribbean islands, with Christmas Day spent entirely at sea. Long lunch, warm air, time by the pool and nowhere else to be. Martinique, St. Kitts and St. Thomas follow on the way to San Juan.

If we were to choose one Caribbean cruise for New Year, it would be this. Begin among the pastel streets of Old San Juan before sailing to St. John, Nevis, Dominica, Antigua and Jost Van Dyke. New Year’s Eve is spent in Nevis and New Year’s Day among Dominica’s rainforest and waterfalls, followed by two unhurried days at sea en route to Miami.
