What Did We Do This Month November 2023

November has been a jam-packed month for the team at TravelMedia.ie/TTR. From consulate visits to bespoke tourism events and exhibitions, continue reading to find out exactly what we did over the last four weeks

World Travel Market 2023

November hailed the esteemed World Travel Market (WTM) – where travel and tourism representatives come together to celebrate, promote and discuss the future of the intertwined industries.

Hosted at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London, the TravelMedia.ie/TTR team were delighted to attend WTM in tandem with Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI).

Over the three-day exhibition, there were a handful of exciting and noteworthy events that we took part in, including a special appearance from West Indies cricket legends Joel Garner and Collis King at the Barbados booth.

Under the theme “Legends to Legacy,” this year’s booth design celebrated the rich culture of the island, its people, and the remarkable progress of Barbados’ tourism industry. The TravelMedia.ie/TTR team on the ground facilitated several constructive meetings with representatives from around the globe, and assisted BTMI with media interviews, on-site events and social media management.

Prior to the event, on Sunday November 5th, Michael, Raluca and Susan attended a private event held by BTMI at the Shard in London City, where they met with the Barbados Minister of Tourism and International Transport, the Hon. Ian Gooding-Edghill.

British Guild of Travel Writers Awards 2023

During the same weekend as WTM, the team from TravelMedia.ie/TTR also attended the annual BGTW Awards, held at The Honourable Society of Middle Temple. Here we assisted in the set-up of the event, management of social media for the awards, provided photography, and networked with leading industry professionals within the travel journalism sector.

Susan and Raluca attend the ITTN Awards

This month we also saw Susan and Raluca from the TravelMedia.ie/TTR team attend the annual ITTN Awards 2023 at the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road.

We were delighted to attend the annual awards ceremony, network with familiar faces and enjoy the evening celebrating their hard work.

Susan attends Travel Centres Conference

This month Susan attended the Travel Centres Conference at Killashee Hotel in Naas, which provided a platform for valuable insights and discussions regarding potential opportunities at Bradley International Airport.

We were thrilled to be in attendance and look forward to the many exciting opportunities that come from it.

Michael attends UNWTO in Zimbabwe

From WTM, Michael flew to Africa for the first UNWTO Communications, Media and Tourism Training Workshop in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The three-day event focused on the opportunities for placing African tourism in the mainstream conversation as well as the ongoing challenges facing communities, destinations and Africa as a region.

Visit the Vaud Region – Switzerland Tourism Event

November also saw the TravelMedia.ie/TTR team host a bespoke event for the Vaud region of Switzerland in Bewley’s Café on Grafton Street.

The event, held in the prestigious James Joyce Room, consisted of a chain of presentations from the Switzerland tourism board, a short talk from Vaud tourism representatives and an evening of networking amongst travel journalists and content creators.

Hosted two Press Trips to Barbados

Throughout November both Michael and Susan facilitated two press trips to Barbados with RTE and Aer Lingus respectively.

Michael assisted RTE representatives on their trip by managing their curated itinerary, booking accommodation and securing filming locations. This was to ensure filming for the High Road Low Road programme was as streamlined and as jam-packed with Bajan culture as possible.

Susan later facilitated a second trip to Barbados with representatives from Aer Lingus, as well as a number of press contacts. Susan managed the trip on the ground, assisted in the curation of a bespoke itinerary, and guided the group as they explored the region and absorbed the island life.

Michael attends Caribbean Roadshow

This month Michael and Cedric Lynch from BTMI attended the Caribbean Tourism Organisation Roadshow in Dublin City Centre at the Mayson Hotel, where Cedric gave a presentation on behalf of BTMI UK and Ireland.

Michael and Leslie attend IBTM

To continue a long list of activities for a busy month, Leslie and Michael flew to Barcelona to attend the annual IBTM – the leading global event for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) industry. They were delighted to take part in this year’s event as it served as great preparation for the MICE Meetup Dublin event, which takes place on Monday, April 8th.

Raluca takes annual leave in Madeira

Raluca took a well-deserved break and caught a plane to the beautiful island of Madeira in Portugal. With only 7 days to explore the wonderful region she set herself a busy itinerary filled with off-road safari tours and luxury catamaran cruises. We’re delighted she enjoyed her time away and look forward to seeing where she heads next!

Catch up with us again at the end of December to see what we get up to whilst wrapping up an eventful year.
