Into Kildare in Attendance at Record-Breaking Weekend at KPMG Women’s Irish Open

Carton House, Co. Kildare – 7 July 2025

Into Kildare, the official tourism body for County Kildare, proudly marked its presence at the 2025 KPMG Women’s Irish Open this past weekend, as the prestigious tournament unfolded against the stunning backdrop of Carton House, Fairmont.

The event, which welcomed a record 16 Irish players to the field, was a resounding success, ultimately culminating in a thrilling victory for amateur English golfer Lottie Woad, who was in a class of her own, winning the tournament by a whopping six shots.

Throughout the four-day event, Into Kildare was on-site promoting the county’s rich tourism offering to visitors from near and far, with thousands attending to witness top-tier golf and soak up the vibrant festival atmosphere. As well as elite competition, the Open featured interactive fan zones, family-friendly activities, and junior golf initiatives – bringing the spirit of the game to life for all ages.

Áine Mangan, CEO of Into Kildare, praised the significance of hosting such a globally recognised event in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East:

“Having the KPMG Women’s Irish Open here in County Kildare is not only a celebration of world-class sport, but also a showcase of everything our region has to offer – from stunning parklands and luxury resorts to culinary excellence and cultural heritage. The buzz this weekend brought to Carton House and the wider area was incredible, and it’s a testament to Kildare’s ability to host major international events that attract visitors, inspire future talent, and shine a global spotlight on our beautiful county.”

This year’s tournament broke new ground with a historic level of Irish representation – including professionals Leona Maguire, Lauren Walsh and Olivia Mehaffey – competing alongside international stars like Charley Hull and Georgia Hall. The strong showing underscored the growing strength of women’s golf in Ireland and reinforced Kildare’s reputation as a hub for sporting excellence.

Into Kildare’s activation at the event also highlighted the county’s year-round appeal, encouraging attendees to explore everything from boutique shopping and five-star stays to local food trails, horse racing, and scenic heritage sites.
