Naas, Co. Kildare – 16 August 2025 – The Taste of Kildare festival was officially opened today, Saturday 16 August, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:00 noon, led by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless, alongside Cathaoirleach Carmel Kelly.
The ceremony marked the beginning of a weekend celebrating the very best of Kildare’s food, drink, music, and culture at Naas Racecourse. After delivering brief opening remarks, Cathaoirleach Kelly cut the ribbon to welcome visitors into a packed festival programme featuring chef demonstrations, artisan food stalls, wine tastings, family entertainment, and live music from top acts.
Brought to you by Into Kildare in association with Kildare County Council, the festival is supported by partners including the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Kildare, The Keadeen Hotel, The K Club, Queally Group, Ballymore, and Brady Family. Visitors can explore a wide range of LEO producers and craft makers, showcasing the very best of what Kildare has to offer.
Áine Mangan, CEO of Into Kildare, welcomed Minister James Lawless and Cathaoirleach Carmel Kelly to officially open this year’s festival, remarking on the strong community spirit and support for Kildare’s food and tourism industries. Minister Lawless spoke about the festival as a celebration of local talent and creativity, and as an opportunity to showcase the county’s food, drink, and hospitality to a wider audience. Cathaoirleach Kelly shared her pleasure in being part of the opening, noting the pride Kildare people take in their county and in making visitors feel welcome.
