10 Reasons to attend the 2018 Travel Media Awards

The 2018 Travel Media Awards in association with Shannon Airport will return on Thursday 7th June. Not sure if you should attend? Read on to find out why you should definitely be there!

1. The Venue

This years’ event will once again be held in the luxurious surroundings of the 5* Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. One of Dublin’s finest establishments, no other venue boasts such history and character. The awards ceremony, and the 3-course lunch, will take place in the majestic ‘Great Room’ which features silk wall coverings and stunning original features – very swish!

2. The Food

If you plan to attend this year’s Travel Media Awards, then make sure you arrive hungry! Following a drinks reception, all guests will sit down to enjoy a delicious 3-course lunch. The Shelbourne Hotel is well known for its food, having picked up numerous culinary accolades over the years.

3. The Networking

The Travel Media Awards is famous for its networking opportunities! At no other event will you find over 50 of Ireland’s top travel media and bloggers, mingling in a room with over 100 members of the Irish and international travel trade. Make sure you bring LOTS of business cards!

4. The Prizes

If you’re not in, you can’t win! From flights to holidays, gadgets to goodie bags – the prizes at the Travel Media Awards are on another level. Simply drop your business card in the bowl at the registration desk and you will be entered into the prize draw.

5. The Winners

Ah, the winners – the stars of the show. With 26 award categories, you can look forward to a good mix of awards including ones for airlines, travel agents, tourist boards, bloggers and journalists. There is also the big question of who will win our three big awards of the day – the ‘Amadeus Innovator of the Year Award’, the ‘Pleasure to Work with Award’ and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ – any ideas?

6. The Sponsors

If Carlsberg did sponsors! We are delighted to once again welcome back Shannon Airport as our fabulous headline sponsors. With numerous new routes added in the last year, Shannon Airport will have lots of news to share with you on the day. Along with Amadeus, and our category sponsors, this event has the best sponsor line-up in town (if we do say so ourselves).

7. The Surprises

Who could forget our ‘face-off’ game in 2017? Or the hilarious game of pass the parcel in 2016? The Travel Media Awards are always full of surprises. What will we have up our sleeves this year?

8. The Presenters

They have been referred to as ‘The Philip and Holly of the travel industry’ but we like to think they are even better! Travel writers and broadcasters, Deirdre Mullins and Fionn Davenport, are back for this year’s event and you can be sure that they will bring the fun, the style and the cringe-worthy jokes!

9. The After-Party

The number one rule of attending the Travel Media Awards? Don’t go home after the formalities end! Anyone who has attended this event will tell you that the best networking is always done at the bar. This year’s after-party will take place in the uber-stylish, House Dublin. If you enjoy cocktails, dancing and having a good time, then you will love it!
