What we did this month – June 2018

Was there ever a month as busy as June 2018?! Awards shows, road shows and trade shows all took centre stage this month. Here’s what we got up to in June!

Travel Media Awards 2018

The Travel Media Awards 2018, in association with Shannon Airport, took place on Thursday 7th June at the 5* Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. Shannon Airport returned for a second year as the headline sponsor of the awards, as well as sponsor of the Shannon Airport Lifetime Achievement Award. Amadeus once again sponsored the much sought after Amadeus Innovator Award, and category sponsors on the day were Las Vegas CVA, Malta Tourism Authority, United Airlines and the Portuguese National Tourism Board. You can view the full list of winners here.

American Sky Training

Michelle visited American Sky in Tralee, along with Ivan Beacom from Aer Lingus, to talk all about Bradley International Airport and their direct route from Dublin Airport.

Hainan Airlines Roadshow Limerick

The final event in the Hainan Airlines Roadshow took place in the Alexfindlater & Co. Foodhall in Limerick city. This was a great end to the trade launch of the new direct route from Ireland to Beijing that had its inaugural flight out of Dublin Airport on 12th June.

Hosted Thai Airways workshop in Dublin

We hosted an evening for Thai Airways who visited Dublin to update local agents on their services and incentives and to celebrate their  58th anniversary.  A lovely evening was had in the surroundings of the Sky Suite in the Radisson Hotel, which provided a panoramic view of Dublin that attendees enjoyed in the sunshine. Guests dined on delicious Thai themed delicacies as they took in all the info from Tim Beek, Senior Sales Executive UK & Ireland, and Sunanta Trai-Ukos, Sales Manager UK & Ireland.

Michael attended United Airlines 20 Years Celebration Lunch in Dublin

Thank you to Martina Migliarina (Coogan) and Bob Schumacher at United Airlines for a lovely lunch at One Pico Restaurant. Well done on 20 years flying from Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport. Roll on the next 20!

Attended Thai Airways Dinner

On Monday 18th June, our MD Michael Collins joined Thai Airways UK for a wonderful dinner at One Pico in Dublin with travel trade and travel media. Thank you to Mr Rithavee Plikamon, Ms Sunanata Trai-Ukos and Mr Tim Beek for your generous hospitality. We returned their hospitality by introducing our hosts to Keoghs Bar on Duke Street. Thai Airways were in town to meet with the trade and conduct some training. Watch this space, we may have a direct Bangkok service in the not to distant future.

After a busy few months, it was time for a holiday for one of the TravelMedia.ie team! Niamh was also lucky enough to get to experience the all new Serenity at Coconut Bay, St. Lucia’s newest, all-inclusive, adults-only luxury suite resort which boasts butler service and private villas with plunge pools. Serenity at Coconut Bay is ranked the No.1 hotel in St. Lucia on Trip Advisor!
